Poor Man's Whiskey FINALLY Brings "Dark Side of the Moonshine" to Bend

Poor Man's Whiskey-easily one of Bend's favorite bands, is returning to Bend this fall, to finally unleash the much rumored, but little seen "Dark Side of the Moonshine," which is the Bay Area band's bluegrass interpretation of the Pink Floyd classic. The show is slated for October 24 at the Midtown complex - either the Domino Room or the Midtown Ballroom.

We reviewed the Poor Man's Whiskey disc, Dark Side of the Moonshine, in the paper a few months back, giving it the thumbs up it so rightfully deserves. PMW's take on Floyd is not a bar-for-bar remake of the album, but at times, things are pretty damn spot on and even when they're not, it's damn cool. Although the band has strayed from it's bluegrass beginnings, bringing a bigger, fuller rock sound, the "Dark Side" project has them at their best.

The show, which the band played at the WOW Hall in Eugene last weekend, is said to bring lights, lasers, costumes and plenty other bells and whistles in tow. The last time the band played here, they sold out a co-bill with Blue Turtle Seduction (who is playing next week at the Silver Moon) for a 4 Peaks Music Festival promo show at the Old Stone in March. 4 Peaks is putting on this show, keeping the brand alive as well as hopes that the fest will return in 2010.
