Re: “South Sister Rescue Takes a Turn for the Bizarre

Drugs. I'm an overweight middle-aged mother of three and I made the climb and back, by myself, with no real problems. I will wear sturdy hiking boots next time instead of tennis shoes. Lost. Disoriented. Aggressive. I would get a tox-screen on him right away.

Re: “Win Joan Osborne Tickets

Joan performed "What Becomes Of The Broken-Hearted?" with the Funk Brothers in the amazing documentary -"Standing in the Shadows of Mowtown." Her deep raspy voice is bluesy rich and will cut deep into your soul. Joan is the bomb!

Re: “After the Crash: Central Oregon's displaced construction workers see few prospects in a changed world

This has been a humbling couple of years, because my company closed down and I am a 52 year old woman. Even if you pound the pavement, employers don't want to talk to you. They send you back to the computer to fill out the on-line application. I don't have the chance to show an employer that they would be hiring a star. I am beginning to think that it is only a matter of time before I won't be able to come up with the rent anymore, and I have two kids to try to keep in school. I am grateful to Maxum for sharing his story.

Re: “DADT, Gay-Bashing and the "Icky-ness" Factor

I support gays and lesbians. But, close quarters will be uncomfortable. I recently attended a trucking school where I was quartered in an eight bunk room with lesbian drivers. I felt as exposed and uncomfortable as if they had assigned me a bunk in a room for men. When I went on the road for my training with a man, sleeping in the semi, he got to be a problem and I had to ditch the whole situation. Opposite sexual identities need privacy, and that is impossible in many military situations.
