This Wednesday, Sara Miles will be speaking at Common Table during a $50/seat fundraiser. This is kind of a big deal. Miles is the founder of The Food Pantry in San Francisco where 8-12 tons of food are distributed each week. According to Common Table's press release, Miles was a big inspiration for Common Table. Miles is also an author, minister and workshop leader, and her writing has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the New Yorker and on NPR.

Sara Miles' backstory is pretty interesting. She was raised as an atheist and was a successful chef and writer. But when she turned 46, she decided to go to church and her whole life changed. She now dedicates her life to public service.

Whatever your religious affiliation, Miles' work is pretty incredible and her fight against what she calls "the great American scandal of the politics of food" is a worthy one. She brings her experience to the Common Table table and we're pretty sure the event will be enlightening. Tickets are $50 and include dinner and a beverage. All proceeds go toward the Common Table token program and can be purchased at Common Table.
