Seasonal Spa Treatments

Fall into wellness

It is a fine line between wellness and indulgence—and one that is, well, healthy to cross over an opportunity to rejuvenate.

Perhaps the most Bend'centric is the line of beer-based remedies and skin care offered by Anjou (225 NW Franklin)—only if they floated you on a SUP out to the middle of Mirror Pond at midnight on a full moon could it be any more "Bend." Remember "Body on Tap," the shampoo from the 70s, with the cheeky commercials, "it's one-third beer, but don't drink it?" Anjou has taken the restorative properties of beer—and, yes, there are many, especially if not consumed as a six-pack—and applied those to a line of body works, like a "Ale-ing Foot Remedy," ($49) a poorly punned but decadent 40 minute smoothing treatment, which includes a crushed barley foot scrub, hops-infused lotion rub-down and a can of GoodLife beer (applied normal fashion; open mouth, pour down). The Stout Scalp Treatment ($14) is as good as conditioning to build back hair, and the Brew & Renew Body Polish ($79 for 40 minutes) is a more complete work-over that takes advantage of the relaxing qualities from hops and the anti-inflammatory powers from the brew's minerals.

Not to be out-punned, Jimsei Spa (541.383-8262), who were voted the Source's readers' honorable mention for best spa, offer a Oktobefresh Facial ($99 through October 31), designed specifically to manage any damage from Central Oregon's sunny summers, while more seasonal offerings include sweet cherry, pear fig or pumpkin facials ($130 for 60 minutes) from Brasada Ranch (866-373-4882) and a 50 minute fall facial and peel ($99), or a 75 minute warm oil massage and cranberry orange scrub ($159) at Sunriver Resort (541.593-7891).

Drop that dead skin like a tree shaking off its leaves.
