regarding: A Foodie's Solution To Helping The Houseless Community
Wouldn't it make sense to engage a non-profit commercial kitchen to provide meals that are planned, scheduled, and of sound nutrition. Donations could support sourcing food from local farmers, and there may be other funding sources to boost the effort. It would help everyone if we could monetize these markets instead of relying on one off donations.
as tragic as this moment is for small businesses, starting up again also provides an opportunity to reposition the food business. Many independent restaurants and Oregon grocery stores already focus on local and organic product. There are so many problems with the industrial food system; chemicals bleeding into the food and transmitting into the population. Climate change impacts from depleting soil, water pollution. Maybe this is a good time to talk about Regenerative Organic Agriculture and embrace a local approach at community level. Have a conversation what this implies. Please do take a look, while we have the (forced) time to think. https://regenerationinternational.org
