Parlour

Calling themselves a folk revival, this four-piece combines picking on mandolin, guitar and fiddle, with a Celtic traditional feel and honey-coated harmonies. They have played everywhere from the public library to numerous breweries about town. The 92.9 FM-sponsored shows even offer what every Bendite craves with their live music, a beer recommendation! Match this barn-burning folk with a Get Sum Pale Ale from Silver Moon. 8 pm. Fri., Jan. 2. Silver Moon Brewing, 24 NW Greenwood Ave. Free.

Tower Theatre Open Mic

Do you dream of playing the same stage as Los Lobos, George Winston, Elvis (impersonator), Taj Mahal, Billy Bragg and more?! Now's your chance! Not to share the stage at the same time of course, but to play on the same physical stage as the Tower Theatre opens its doors and its mic to the public. Ten-minute slots are available for signup starting at 10 am in the box office. Come early to reserve as the open mic will be for a limited time. 6 pm. Fri., Jan. 2. Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St. Free.

The Cutmen

If there's one way to stay warm during the coldest stretch of the winter thus far, it's getting your groove on while kicking back a few warming beverages. Here's your chance. Local soul and funk band The Cutmen will steam up the garage doors at Volcanic with horns, keys, and guitar built from the bricks of soul, blues and jazz. 9 pm. Sat., Jan. 3. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $5.
