2nd Hand Soldiers

This locally-based sextet features the beautiful and soulful vocals of Darian Mahaney. The band has a reggae style that they incorporate into all of their songs, even giving covers an island vibe. Celebrate America's birthday on the banks of beautiful Elk Lake while taking in the stunning view of Mt. Bachelor and swaying hips to the upbeat reggae-pop sound of 2nd Hand Soldiers. Flip flops, water shoes, cowboy boots, whatever you've got for dancing shoes after a day at the lake, be sure to bring them for an evening of celebration. 5 pm. Saturday, July 4. Elk Lake Resort, 60000 Century Dr.

Sarah Donner

Yes, Sarah Donner plays Regina Spektor-style indie folk-pop. What that doesn't convey is she also incorporates comedy. With her most recent album, Hairball: Songs From the Depths, she has created a hilarious collection of songs about cats, including a song called "Exploding Kittens." 8 pm. Thursday, July 2. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $8/adv, $10/door.

Dirty Bourbon River Show

It seems every band proclaims that they have "a truly unique sound" or something similar trying to differentiate themselves from the masses. Dirty Bourbon River Show may actually be one of those bands that does breathe new energy into the musical landscape and creates a one-of-a-kind musical experience. The New Orleans-based band plays what they call, "New Orleans Big Brass Circus Rock," which blends brass instruments with hard-edged blues in an often theatrical sounding performance. Fans of Diego's Umbrella, March Fourth Marching Band, Rubblebucket, and The Pimps of Joytime must check out this energetic and incredible musical experience. 9 pm. Wednesday, July 8. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $5.
