Hillstomp

Portland-based junkbox blues duo Hillstomp regularly stops by this side of the mountain for raucous, boot scootin' good times. Their distinctive brand of do-it-yourself hill country and blues always makes for an entertaining evening, incorporating buckets, washboards, and other found items into their arsenal of musical instruments. For lovers of deep, raspy vocals and dance-worthy beats derived from forgotten items found in a garage, Hillstomp gets listeners on their feet. Bend-based band Helga also performs. 9 pm. Friday, Aug 28. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $10/ adv., $12/door.

Centaur Midwife

As far as band names go, Centaur Midwife is pretty great. And for their logo? You guessed it: a nurse cradling a baby in her arms with the body of a horse. Name aside, how good do they sound? Centaur Midwife, a quartet from Ellensburg, Washington, plays a blend of folk, rock, and Americana that will liven up your weekend. Their acoustic covers and original songs provide the perfect Saturday evening soundtrack. 6-9 pm. Saturday, Aug 29. Crux Fermentation Project, 50 SW Division St.

The Autonomics

Bendites who've been around more than a couple years may remember The Autonomics from their early days playing at JC's and having to wait outside before they were 21. The trio moved to Portland a few years ago and continue to improve their sound and songwriting on a larger scale. From touring Europe all the way back to their roots in Bend, The Autonomics' indie rock meets surf punk meets roots sound has universal appeal. Don't miss this show, The Autonomics only get better with age. Commute to the event without a motorized vehicle and get a raffle ticket to win sweet schwag throughout the night. 7 pm. Sat, Aug 29. Parrilla Grill, 635 NW 14th St. $5.
