Moody Little Sister

After joining forces musically and romantically, Rob Stroup, a founding member of Portland's Baseboard Heaters, and Naomi Hooley, an Alaska native with an angelic alto, became Moody Little Sister, an endearing balladeer pop-folk duo. After fully recording, but never releasing their last album, Hooley and Stroup went back to the drawing board and are starting a crowdsourcing campaign to raise funds to finish mastering and releasing a rerecorded album. "As a woman you have a beautiful body and you can dress it however you want because underneath the skin's the same," said Hooley. "But if you put scantily clothes on you're going to attract this certain guy, you're dressing for that. We felt like our songs were dressed wrong. We had to put them in the right clothes." Thurs., Sept. 18. 7 pm. McMenamins Old St. Francis, 700 NW Bond St. Free.

Based on the overwhelmingly massive pop hits that Heart has racked up and the longevity of the band's over 40-year career, by all common sense, the Wilson sisters should be propped up, jaded shells of the hits they once belted. But Heart's catalogue, and passion for ever-catchy pop rock has held up over the years, as has its stamina as a live act. Don't be afraid to sing along. Mon., Sept. 22. 6 pm. Les Schwab Amphitheater, 344 SW Shevlin Hixon Dr. $39-79.

Fall into Funk Fiesta

And now for something completely different. Taking a step outside Bend's typical banjo-laden string bands is the Fall into Funk Fiesta, a seasonal dance party with Jelly Bread (twangy, groovy four-piece funk band, NOT half a sandwich) and Elektrapod (funk crew with a hint of reggae, NOT a podcast about electricity). Saturated with horns, snappy beats, and radiating guitar riffs, and—of course—auto-tune, the party will be rocking and you're welcome to come a knocking. Fri., Sept. 19. 9:30 pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave. $8-12.
