Take Back the Night

Together, we can prevent sexual and domestic violence. Join us this
Friday, April 22 in downtown Bend as we Take Back the Night with an evening full of FREE awareness-raising activities to empower the community to take action against violence.

We'll start our family-friendly Take Back the Night events with a Healthy Relationships Fair from 6 to 9 pm the Liberty Theater (849 NW Wall St.), featuring activities that explore healthy relationships, myths and facts about sexual and domestic violence, and more, with options for all ages. Those that participate will receive a raffle ticket for some great local prizes. The largest team in attendance will win a pizza party from Pizza Mondo! So get some friends together and join us!

At 7 pm, in the nearby Mirror Pond Plaza (across from Crow's Feet Commons), a Speak Out featuring survivors and other community members will highlight the impact of sexual and domestic violence and what is being done to address these issues. The Speak Out will include a performance of Lady Gaga's "Til It Happens to You" by local musician Shireen Amini (of ¡Chiringa!) and remarks by City Councilor Nathan Boddie. Following the Speak Out, at about 7:30 pm, attendees will carry that message of hope and empowerment through downtown in Saving Grace's Shine a Light Walk.

This is an event for all people, ages, sexes and races. It's an event for everyone, because it's an issue that affects everyone. Come and support raising awareness against acts that are far too common in our society. Let's make Bend a safer place for all.

Thanks to our sponsors: G5, Les Schwab, Deschutes Brewery, Bend Research, RBC Wealth Management, Pacific Source, Horizon Broadcasting, Pine Mountain Sports, The Source Weekly, Pizza Mondo and Crow's Feet Commons.
