Action, Drama, Martial arts
Any time an Asian filmmaker who is primarily known for romantic and moody pictures steps out of their genre to do a martial arts movie, it usually tends to be an outright masterpiece and The Assassin looks to be no different. Directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien, the man behind such gorgeous films as Millennium Mambo and Flowers of Shanghai, The Assassin just might be his best picture yet.
