The Source Suggests

Champagne Charlie

A horror-jug band with a gravel-gargling singer, Champagne Charlie doesn't take it easy on the creepy minor keys or the malicious, moustache curling content. A Tom Waits-esque growl howling drinking man's songs, the Denver band will play opener to ska-rockers with a flair for the dramatic, The Back Alley Barbers. The lineup is a B-horror flick junkie's dream. 9 pm. Sat., July 19. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $5.

The Littlest Birds

Playing his cello more like a fiddle, sawing and plucking, David Huebner of Littlest Birds transforms folk standards into gorgeous amalgamations with his partner in twang, banjo player Sharon Martinson. The roots-forward pair reflect their home in the eastern Sierra mountains of California in the nonchalant rolling style of the band's duets. 8 pm. Tues., July 22. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. $5.

Nicolas David

If you had a television in 2012, you probably caught a glimpse of this Minnesota native singing his heart out to old soul songs on "The Voice." The third place runner-up on his season, Nick "The Feelin' " Mrozinski's froggy and sultry pipes had been melting the cold in the Saint Paul music scene for years, and after the show, his open-arms personality and warm vocal arrangements became a national success. 7 pm. Wed., July 23. McMenamins, 700 NW Bond St. FREE.
