John Butler Trio

If you missed your chance to snag tickets for Dave Matthews Band, don't fret too hard: the '90s hippie-alt-jammers John Butler Trio is coming to town. Flesh & Blood, Buttler's sixth album, came out just a week ago, and addresses all manner of political and social issues from bullying to usage of the sacred lands of indigenous Australians in his signature bluesy style. The band will play the following weekend at the Outside Lands Festival which draws 60,000 attendees a day; catch them here in this much more intimate venue. Fri., Aug. 8. Courtyard of the Athletic Club of Bend, 61615 Athletic Club Dr. $34.

Shook Twins

Pretty ladies, pretty harmonies, pretty banjo, pretty hip-hop covers? Yes, the Shook Twins can shift from psychedelic folk dream-land straight into a Lauren Hill/Chingy mash-up cover in one seamless swoop. The sisters' voices mesh into a fabric of harmonies with an intense charisma and a goofy sensibility. Did we mention the sisters are drop dead gorgeous and effortlessly embody the Pacific Northwest folk style? Thur., Aug. 7, 5:30 pm. Drake Park. Free.

Nora and the Janitors

As technical as recording equipment has become in the last few decades, there are some artists that will never let go of the lo-fi, basement-recorded crusty punk aesthetic. Nora and the Janitors are one of those bands. They have their garage '90s-rock dialed in the DIY stripped-down style of Pavement with the addition of dark, post-modern T.S. Eliot style-poetry. Sun. Aug, 10. Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Dr. 8 pm. Free.
