The Week-nighter 7/7-7/10

Looking for some weeknight activities around town? The Source has you covered! From horse racing to trivia nights, take full advantage of the after-work hours this week.

Monday July 7:
The Breaker 8 pm. Dojo 852 NW Brooks St. Free.
The Breaker is the alter-ego of guitarist Aaron Pugh out of Bend, OR. He is self described as "blues-stomp" and his energetic shows will show you why.

Tuesday July 8:
Be Calm Honcho 9 pm. Volcanic Theatre Pub 70 SW Century Dr. $5.
This group of goofy California rockers make wearing a sequined cape and singing about their home state look easy. Lead by the smoky-voiced and prolific Shannon Harney, the band’s slow-swinging, bluesy, reverb-y and catchy songs are unmatched in psychedelic twists and west coast vibrations.

Wednesday July 9:
Kalai with Tim Snider 7 pm. McMenamins Old St. Francis School 700 NW Bond St. Free.
Kalai, a Hawaiian folk/blues/rock musician who has both toured with Bob Marley’s “The Wailers” and performed as part of Glenn Beck’s 2012 “Restoring Love” rally stops in Bend for a show with the likewise eclectic violin virtuoso Tim Snider. (Kalai has been compared to both James Taylor and Prince, while Snider frequently covers pop songs.) The show promises to be different, in a good way.

Geeks who Drink 7 pm. Volcanic Theatre Pub 70 SW Century Dr. Free.
Trivia every Wednesday from 7-9 pm.

Thursday July 10:
Fruition at Munch & Music 5:30 pm. Drake Park 777 NW Riverside. Free.
The Portland-based string-infused quartet Fruition, comprised of whiskey drinking vagabonds, brings its bluegrass America to Bend for the first Munch and Music of its 24th season. Local food and drink vendors satisfy the crowd’s physical appetites while the band meets their aural needs.

Crooked River Roundup Horse Races
5 pm. Crook County Fairgrounds, 1280 S Main St., Prineville.  $5.
Yup, just what it sounds like. Bet on your favorite horses, drink beer and pretend you're Bukowski for the night.
