Okay, so it's not technically a "Happy Hour." But when it involves discounted micro beers and goes on all night, it sure qualifies as something. And every Monday night is local's night at Silver Moon Brewing Company. The upstart pub has quickly become a favorite for the 30-and-under crowd. With $2.50 pints on local's night, it's easy to understand why. The beers are brewed on site at Silver Moon's pub/brewery on Greenwood and there always seems to be something fresh on tap or in the works at the Moon. Currently, the pub is pouring a limited edition 30 Schilling Scottish Ale, a relatively light and low alcohol beer that's sure to resonate with fans of beers like Newcastle, or locally, Cascade Lakes 20-Inch Brown. Technically, there aren't any food specials on local's night, but the menu is so reasonable, with offerings like pulled pork nachos and spicy chipotle wings for just $6, that it might as well be happy hour. Vegetarians also have a couple of choices with an edamame plate for $4 and a veggie platter.
A Monday night at the Moon is a low key affair with a few regulars sipping down pints at the bar while pool balls clack on the nearby felt table, which by the way is free for customers, as is the foosball table.
While the stage was quiet this past Monday night, music fans should keep their eye on the calendar for upcoming shows as the pub has become the de facto home for the majority of live and, particularly, local music in Bend. - EJF
