Video from Last Night's Laura Veirs and Weinland Show

A recap of Laura Veirs and Weinland at the Tower Theatre in Bend.

From the stage last night at the Laura Veirs and Weinland show at the Tower Theatre, Henry Abel announced that it would be the last PDXchange show of the year. Most of us already knew that, but it was a chance to reflect on what's been perhaps best addition to the local music scene in the past few years.

A solid-sized crowd showed up for the double bill that began with Weinland and their increasingly rock-laced take on indie folk, complete with plenty of delightfully hilarious rants by front man Adam Shearer. Local singer songwriter Laurel Brauns came out to provide backing vocals on a couple tunes, keeping alive the Bend connection PDXchange has been intent on including in its shows.

Laura Veirs, flanked by a guitarist and a violin/keyboard player, came out quiet at first, then eventually got friendly with the crowd, inviting them to join in a few singalongs. She dug deep into her latest record, July Flame, and capped the show with the album's title track, accompanied by members of the Central Oregon Symphony. And here's video of that.
