What In the World?

Longest field goal record broken yesterday: Although the record for the longest kicked field was broken yesterday by a kicker for the Denver Broncos, the 63-yard field goal kicked by Tom Dempsey really deserves to be considered the truly greatest. Born without toes on one foot, Dempsey wasn't the typical jock. But in the final 2 seconds of this 1970 game, Dempsey won the game! No ba-humbug here. All good tidings and cheer (and, yes, Dempsey may have had a bit of cheer before he even took the field)!

Nuts for health: Did someone say nutcracker? In a season reminder to eat well, the news about nuts has been gaining popularity over the past few years. A wonderful New York Times article lays it out simply: the more nuts someone eats, the less chances for heart disease or cancer. Not a bad trade off.
