There’s the art, there’s the walking—what’s not to love? We strongly recommend visiting the Oxford Hotel to peruse the Lives on the Line exhibit we profile in our Culture section this week. While you’re there take a listen to Christian Lindquist on the harp and check out his custom furniture pieces. Indie-pop from Santa Barbara, Little Owl is bright and polished surf rock with elements of ambient electro and nuanced song structures. Twangy progressive country music from a genre master. Ray Wylie Hubbard released his first record over 40 years ago and has been writing and touring ever since. Hubbard’s best known work is the drunken country anthem "Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother" popularized by Jerry Jeff Walker in the early ‘70s. Farmers Market

Here’s what you’ll find there: gorgeous fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and locally-made products in attractive baskets; beautiful people smiling at each other because it’s finally summer; and the gratifying knowledge that you are building community and supporting local farmers. A nine-time Grammy award winning crew of Texans, Asleep at the Wheel is known for smoking hot swing riffs. With more than 20 studio albums released over their 40-plus year career, their music is refined and reminiscent of a hootin' and hollerin’ drunken square dance. Founder Ray Benson may very well be the tallest cowboy with the deepest voice in Texas, towering over his band mates at a staggering six foot seven inches with size 16 EEE boots. $38-50. 8pm. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)

For the MTV generation, which doesn’t have the attention span to sit through the full works of The Bard, this abridged version of his work involves three actors covering 37 plays in 90 minutes. Local actors Alastair Morley Jaques, Clint Clark and Skye Stafford take on what sounds like a drunken challenge, “Hey bro, I bet you can’t make Shakespeare short and interesting.” Titus Andronicus as a cooking show, Othello as a rap song and The Histories as a football game are just a few of the hilarious reductions you can expect. $10 for preview at 7:30 p.m. June 7. $15 for adults, $12 seniors/students, 7:30pm Wednesdays through Saturdays June 8 through June 23. 6pm June 10 through June 24.
