Sunset Limited
THEATER—Cormac McCarthy is the best living author of our time. He's the next frickin' Faulkner, OK? From Southwestern gothic to lonesome post-apocalyptic, McCarthy's got it covered. His second play, Sunset Limited, is a "Black" meets "White" (literally, those are the characters' names) retrospective. It's a less boring Waiting for Godot. Historical Walking Tours
HISTORY—From the haunted McCann mansion to the old whorehouses on Bond Street, there's a whole lot of history in downtown Bend and this is the day to see it. Friendly history buffs will host tours through the city. The lesson continues back at the museum with tips for researching historic houses. FILM—Stanley Kubrick's 1980 The Shining (yes, filmed in part at Timberline) is both one of the greatest showcases for Jack Nicholson's unnerving craziness and a (literally) chilling psychological thriller. It also has spawned a cult following. The essay-documentary Room 237 explores that fanaticism and surrounding cloud of conspiracy theories—some hilariously mockable, others frighteningly convincing. 8pm.
