Mai - also known as Matthew Hyman - has long been the guitarist and vocalist for Moon Mountain Ramblers, but now he's going solo with the recent release of his album, Restless. The 12-track disc features the same rootsy approach Mai features when with the Ramblers, but here, things are a bit barer, letting us into the emotion behind his tunes. As a whole, the record is a piece of excellent Americana, complete with honky tonk, bluegrass and blues influences.
