MOsley WOtta
friday 11
Kicking off the "Party on the Patio" series out at Country Catering is MOsley WOtta, the hip-hopper, spoken word artist and generally affable man around town. Hopefully, he'll give us a taste of that super secret new album he's about to release. 5:30pm-7:30pm. Country Catering Company & Deli, 900 SE Wilson Ave.
David Jacobs-Strain
friday 11
When you walk into a joint where David Jacobs-Strain is playing, there's nothing all that impressive about the sight of him - he's just a dude sitting on his amp with his guitar. But then he stomps his feet and kicks the piss out of that same guitar in his typical bluesy style and you're hooked. He'll be doing just that at this release party for his CD, Terraplane Angel. $10. 9pm. Silver Moon Brewing Co., 24 NW Greenwood Ave.
Sisters Rodeo and Parade
friday 11 - sunday 13
The Sisters Rodeo celebrates its 70th anniversary this year and like always, it's the ultimate place to get your fill of all things rodeo, from ranching culture to competitions like bull riding and barrel racing. It's also quite possibly the biggest weekend of light-beer consumption in all of Oregon. Tickets are $12, $15, $18 and $30. Kids 12 and under free on Friday. 220 West Cascades Avenue. See this week's Culture article for complete event schedule and locations.
World Cup on the Big Screen: USA vs. England
saturday 12
Let's not waste ink on the debate over whether or not soccer is or isn't a sport or is or isn't an inherently communist activity, because the World Cup is here! Soccer enthusiasts (as well as those who call it "football") can rejoice in several weeks of matches that begins with this USA vs. England battle, which will be televised for free on the movie theater screen at McMenamins. And if England wins, we have that whole Revolutionary War thing in our back pocket to pull out and rub in their faces. 10:30am doors, 11:30am game. McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St.
BAZAAR Benefit & Trunk Show

Shopping for any reason is fun, but shopping to benefit charity gives a little more meaning to shelling out your cash. This show raises awareness and funding for Mary's Place and the Family Access Network, two deserving charities for children and families in the community. Free music from Jason Schweitzer, Tim Coffey, Gypsy Fire Belly Dancers, The Sweet Harlots, Eric Tollefson & The World's Greatest Lovers. 11am-10pm. Music kicks off at 12:15pm. Nashelle Jewelry's Showroom, 61511 American Lane, Ste. 1.
The Zoo Story
sunday 13
Although Bend has plenty of transitory residents, transients from New York City are much more interesting, especially when they have a chance encounter with a book publisher. Silver Moon gets into the local theater scene with a FREE one-act play from Volcanic Theatre (who brought us Bobby Gould in Hell earlier this year) that explores what happens when these two characters meet in Central Park. Will it be chaos or the book deal of the year? Free. 8pm. Silver Moon Brewing Co, 24 NW Greenwood Ave.
Hellzapoppin' Sideshow w/ Zamora The Torture King
saturday 12
Ever wonder what it looks like when a dude lets audience members stand on him as he lays on a bed of nails? Well, read this week's Sound feature and learn more about this crazy rock and roll circus. $13/door. All ages. 9pm. Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave.
Budofights
saturday 12
The most recent event to come into the West Bend Tennis Center, in addition to basketball, roller derby and soon the Bend Roots Revival, is Budofights, a night of Mixed Martial Arts combat. After all, we've always thought the westside needed more hand-to-hand combat. See www.budofights.com for tickets and other info.7pm. West Bend Tennis Center, 1355 SW Commerce St.
The Lights Out & Rosa's Buds
sunday 13
Look skyward, friends. That thing is the sun and it means that summer is hopefully here to stay, bringing with it the Summer Sundays free concert series at the Les Schwab Amphitheater. The first installment includes indie rock from The Lights Out and roots rock from Rosa's Buds. 2:30pm. Les Schwab Amphitheater, 344 SW Shevlin Hixon Dr.
The Preservation
thursday 17
This dusty Austin, Texas, roots alt-country band is the latest young and talented indie band to play the Silver Moon on their way to bigger cities and big notoriety. The Preservation has a bit of Wilco in them that's sometimes chased out by a more rocking feel, making for solid tunes and excellent boot-stomping opportunities. $5. 9pm. Silver Moon Brewing Co., 24 NW Greenwood Ave.
