This new farm-to-shaker bar is finally open after months of renovation to the space neighboring Barrio in downtown. Dogwood Cocktail Cabin is ready to make its debut outside of its flagship location in Crested Butte, Colo., offering a globally-inspired menu of small plates and an ambience that is both a throwback to Bend's logging past and a nod to hip, nostalgic repurposing. Dogwood Cocktail Cabin opens Tuesday May 13, 4 pm.
Boneyard Beer

"At this point, we make 15,000 barrels (of beer) and we're looking to triple that," said Boneyard Beer co-owner Melody Storey. The Bend brewery has applied for a liquor license to establish a new production facility on the city's northeast side. The main reason for the move, she said, is that Boneyard just can't keep up with demand for its suds. And with the new digs, provided the application's approved, the brewery will look at distribution beyond Oregon and Washington State.
Cider House Rules

It'll be a "growler-style pick up place" with an emphasis on cider and kombucha, bucking the beer focus in Central Oregon. Bruce Moon, who's currently negotiating the county licensure process to open Cider House Rules (which has nothing to do with the John Irving book) in Tumalo, said there might be at least a few beers available, but he hasn't quite planned that far ahead. He just likes the idea of occupying a cidery niche in Deschutes County.
