Our readers know that we've celebrated a recent surge in our local music scene in these pages over the past year or so and we'd like to assure these readers that things should remain strong in 2009. Our evidence, in case you were wondering, lies in the list of new local CDs that are slated for release this year. Take a look at what's on the way...

Moon Mountain Ramblers, Let it All Be Good - Voted Best Band of 2008 by Source Weekly readers, the Ramblers probably have higher expectations than any act in town, which is why they're hosting a big ol' blowout at the Tower Theatre on January 24 to celebrate the release of this disc.

David Bowers Colony - A week after MMR has their time in the sun, David Bowers Colony unleashes their self-titled record with a party at the Silver Moon. The album is quintessential Bowers - folky, soulful and rocking all at once-and features an impressive lineup of local players.

Empty Space Orchestra - Arguably the most buzzed about band in town, ESO finally lays its all-instrumental magic on wax with a record expected sometime in April. The one track we've heard should make it worth the wait.

Person People, Heartbeats - We got an early version of this disc from Bend's foremost hip-hop pioneers and it didn't take long for it to make it into our regular iTunes rotation. You can get in on the fun come late February.
