Denver, Widower and What Hearts

Denver is a seriously American band. Bald eagles, empty whiskey bottles, and the good ol' red, white and blue permeate their traditional Southwestern country, along with killer harmonica riffs and slide guitar for days. Seattle-based Widower is just days away from releasing his new album, and if the single "Oh Catherine, My Catherine" is any indication, his songwriting is still powerful and his aesthetic is still steeped in reverb-ey goodness. 9 p.m. Mississippi Studios.

National Pie Day

There's only one way to celebrate National Pie Day and it includes all varieties—apple, pumpkin, banana cream and chicken pot—stuffed into your face. The American Pie Council (a real organization) has declared Jan. 23 National Pie Day, hence, Pacific Pie Co.'s bake-off and pie eating contest with savory and sweet divisions. This is your opportunity to show that you love pie the most in a competitive eat-off. Pie rocks. 1 p.m. Pacific Pie Company.

Yo La Tengo

The ultimate critic's band, Yo La Tengo have it, if it is a gigantic indie-cult following. One of the most highly respected underground indie rock groups of the 1990s among contemporaries like Pavement, The Flaming Lips and Built to Spill, YLT released their 13th studio album, "Fade," earlier in the week. Catch their set this weekend in Seattle for the reasonable price of free. 7 p.m. Easy Street Records.

Presidential Inauguration

Round two of Obama inauguration. Seems a little redundant, so just think of it as a giant thank-god-it's-not-Romney day. Join Seattle residents at town hall for coffee and a light breakfast and probably fewer tears than four years ago. Feels just like Groundhog Day, all over again. 8 to 11 a.m. Town Hall.
