Out of Town

friday 24

Umphrey's McGee

Indiana's famous anything-goes jam band is known for their exciting concerts and mix of pop-rock, jazz, prog-metal and classical. Touted as the heirs to Phish's throne (which, with the reunion of Phish, now makes UM lowly princes of jam bandom we suppose) and with the June release of Jimmy Stewart 2007, the band is on tour with a slew of new songs to mix in with fan favorites. 8pm, Crystal Ballroom.

Forever The Sickest Kids, Cobra Starship, Sing It Loud, Hit The Lights

They're young, in love with skinny jeans and hair products and hail from Dallas. Best known for their hit "Hey Brittany" and its combination of pop, pop-punk and '80s radio rock (in other words, they sound like Fall Out Boy), the band's on tour with Cobra Starship, the fashion-forward pop-punk/electro band known for their hit "The City is at War." Even if all the bands in this line-up sound pretty similar, if you like one, you'll like them all. 8pm. Wonder Ballroom.

thursday 30

Lykke Li, Friendly Fires

Sweden's latest pop princess has crossed the pond and is selling out shows wherever she plays. With her fluttery voice, coy lyrics and steady bass line, it's easy to see why she's being hailed as a fan favorite and critical darling. On tour with the UK's Friendly Fires, expect a show full of electro pop music and the crazed dancing it inspires. 8pm, Doug Fir.

thursday 23

Linda Ronstadt

You gotta hand it to Ronstadt for still going strong after 40 years in the business and over 32 albums. Check out the music legend famous for her creation of uplifting songs and her Bush bashing. Did we mention that the woman has worked with everyone from Janis Joplin to Frank Zappa? Be impressed. 7:30pm, Paramount Theatre.

friday 24

Against Me!, Future of the Left

If you weren't sure that folk and punk music could ever successfully coexist, Against Me! is your proof that it can. With great vocals and a sound you'd expect from greats like The Clash and The Replacements, Against Me! is a no-frills, politically opinionated band that is a refreshing break from the fake punk/pop bands clogging the airwaves right now. Also worth checking out are Welsh-born Future of the Left's indie alternative anthems. 7pm. Showbox Market.
