Ninth Annual Ragtime & Vintage Music Festival

Things are going to get old-timey in the rural town of Shaniko. Northeast of Madras on U.S. Hwy 97 lies Shaniko, population: 26. Friday night the festival begins with a silent screening of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, shown at the Shaniko Schoolhouse and with live piano accompaniment. On Saturday, the celebration moves north to Moro where there will be ragtime music in the streets from noon until 11pm. Sunday continues with more forgotten piano tunes drifting out from behind the saloon doors. It doesn't get more old-timey that this. Begins at noon, Shaniko Schoolhouse.

Robert Earl Keen

Enjoy a cold beer, a strong drink and a trip back in time with the music from Texas singer and songwriter Robert Earl Keen. Keen will wash away you present-day worries and woes with songs from the hill country about guns, bandits, rodeos and beautiful senoritas. He's also a darn fine storyteller. In his college years, Keen lived with Lyle Lovett and the two spent many hours writing tunes and telling lies. You can hear about those days in "Front Porch Song." 9:15pm, Aladdin Theater.

Cash'd Out

With the Man in Black gone from this world (R.I.P. Johnny Cash) Cash'd Out is as close as you're likely to get to experiencing the real thing. Cash'd Out looks the part too, with slicked-back hair, skinny ties and whiskey bottle close by. You may have seen them in Bend before, but if you're in Portland over the weekend this tribute band is worth a listen. Plus, Dante's serves pizza by the slice until late, so you can drink all the bourbon you want. 9pm, Dante's.
