Head for the Hills

The foursome covers the spectrum of prairie music with the solid backbone of Adam Kinghorn on guitar and Matt Loewen on upright bass, and the tumbleweed riffs of Michael Chappell on mandolin and Joe Lessard on fiddle. But Head for the Hills isn't just for the bluegrass crowd. The band's new album is inspired by "love, misery and comic books," something for everyone, really. With almost hip-hop-like vocals delivered over newgrass murder ballads, Head for the Hills keeps listeners guessing. 7 pm. Thurs., Nov. 13, The Belfry, 302 E. Main St., Sisters. $10-12. Tickets available at bendticket.com

Moondog Matinee

Speeding out of the dusty, desert gambling-hole of Reno, Nevada, with screaming blues rock guitars and shredding head-banging vocals streaming out the windows of its converted school bus, Moondog Matinee is a crew of rebellious classic rockers nostalgic for the screeching breakneck style of the '70s. The five-piece has the charisma and performance of Robert Plant meets Jim Morrison, its players lost in a sea of crushing drums and devilish guitar solos. If you love rock and roll, don't miss this show. 8 pm. Fri., Nov 14. Silver Moon Brewing, 24 NW Greenwood Ave. Free.

White Buffalo

A towering man with a towering presence, Jake Smith who operates under the ominous and illusive title White Buffalo, writes rebellious folk music from the shadowy mountains of Colorado to the never-ending highways of the Midwest. His full and seasoned baritone is equal parts undeniably soothing and reverb-laden ominous, see his bellowing cover of "House of the Rising Sun" used in the Season 4 finale of "Sons of Anarchy." 8 pm. Fri., Nov. 14, The Belfry, 302 E. Main St., Sisters. $17. Tickets available at bendticket.com
