And so are these bands...
A presumably sober Scott Weiland and the three other members of Stone Temple Pilots descend on the Schwab for a Labor Day trip back to the glory of the mid 1990s. It's easy to pretend like you don't care about these almost forgotten rockers, but chances are, after a few chords of "Sex Type Thing" or "Vaseline" you, like me, will be pumping your fist as if you're living in the pre-Google age.
Many thought STP was done - another band that just couldn't keep itself together long enough to reach legendary status. But now they're back...again, and are evidence that as long as the band's members are all (or mostly) still alive, a band is never dead.
Case in point are these other bands who've launched monumental comeback tours. In no particular order, we proceed as thus:
The Police: No one really thought Sting would ever get back onstage with Summers and Copeland, but then in 2007 they did just that, playing big arena shows and headlining festivals like Bonnaroo.
Led Zeppelin: OK, it was only one show, but it still counts because rumors of a reunion tour continue. The three remaining members of Zeppelin reunited last winter in London, and at least two Bendites were there to see it and from what one of them had to say, it was Zeppelin to the max.
Kiss: This band had more farewell tours and reunion tours than they had STD tests. Will they be back again. Probably. As for the STD tests...let's hope not.
New Kids on the Block: There will be at least one Source staffer in attendance (we're not telling who, but hint, it's not me) when NKOTB return to the stage to lead you in a round of synchronized arm waving after a 14-year absence from the stage during which you stood with said arms politely at your sides.
