This Saturday, May 7, a community park located within the new Pettigrew Place neighborhood in east Bend will be dedicated in Rolando Garcia’s honor. In addition to Saturday’s park dedication, a cul-de-sac currently under construction in Pettigrew Place will be named Rolo Court.
Rolando “Rolo” Garcia, a longtime fixture of Bend’s building community, died unexpectedly of a heart aneurysm on Christmas Day. A concrete foreman for Fire and Ice Concrete, the 41-year-old Garcia was responsible for installing all Hayden Homes sidewalks, patios, driveways and porches in Central Oregon for the past 16 years. He left behind his wife, Maria, and two sons, Orlando, 20, and Jason, 18.
Hayden Homes and Fire and Ice co-workers, as well as the Summit High School community where his sons played football, have rallied to support the Garcia family with donations to a 529 Education Savings Plan — ensuring that both Orlando and Jason can attend college.
Additionally, as a gesture of gratitude for Garcia’s 16 years of service, Hayden Homes last week donated $10,000 to the family.
