Republic Services, Inc. of Phoenix will take over near the end of March

On March 6, Bend Garbage & Recycling—which also operates High Country Disposal and Deschutes Recycling—announced an agreement to sell its services to Republic Service of Phoenix, Ariz.

“We have been honored to work with our cities, counties and such a great community over the years, but we feel now is the time for our family to retire and transition the company to new ownership,” Bend Garbage & Recycling president Brad Bailey said in a press release.

The transaction is expected to close at the end of March, but customers won’t see any interruption in their services throughout the transition, as it’s the same team providing the service, according to Susan Baker of Bend Garbage.

Republic Services incorporated in Phoenix in 1996, according to company records. They serve 40 states and Puerto Rico and run 340 collection operations, 201 transfer stations, 195 active landfills and 90 recycling centers. They currently provide non-hazardous waste service to 41 cities across Oregon.

“Republic Services brings a high level of experience in solid waste management and disposal, recycling and sustainability initiatives, and I am confident their team will provide the excellent level of service our customers have come to expect,” Bailey said. “I have confidence in their ability to successfully lead the company and our employees into the future.”
