Cannabis Collab Seeking New Members

Celebrate Cannabis kicked off membership drive Friday

Since the passage of Measure 91 in 2014 and the official legalization of recreational cannabis in 2015, the budding industry has seen its ups and downs.

From the uncertainty of which counties and cities would allow cannabis to be sold and/or grown, to ever-changing regulations, and now, the notions of overproduction, and even a backlash and perceived rejection of the industry from some local elected officials, suffice it to say that being in the cannabis industry is always changing, and its community is always looking for ways to adapt.

Enter Celebrate Cannabis, a local organization formed last month with a mission of protecting the legal cannabis industry and offering educational and advocacy information.

According to a release from the organization: "Celebrate Cannabis, a 501(c)(6) mutual benefit corporation, was formed in Bend, Oregon by an enthusiastic group of local cannabis industry leaders including founding board members Jennifer Clifton of Clifton Cannabis Law, Hunter Neubauer of Oregrown, Gary Bracelin of Tokyo Starfish, Judy Campbell of Campbell Consulting Group and Jack Robson of High Desert Pure."

"I think our number one purpose is to be the connecting point in the legal cannabis industry for the city, state, county governments—to have a connecting point to be able to talk to us and hear from us," Bracelin told the Source Friday.

"I don't think any of us were looking for an organization to form," Bracelin said. "We were really paying attention to our own business and just trying to do business like a regular business and I think somewhat we were forced to stand up for ourselves, and we were drawn together to form the organization.

"I feel that there's a lot of misinformed propaganda out there and we just want to set the record straight with facts and truth," Bracelin said.

On March 16, Celebrate Cannabis launched its membership and sponsorship drive for interested individuals and businesses. Interested parties can visit celebrate-cannabis.org for more information.
