Last evening's City Council meeting was a relatively sedate affair, despite two significant issues being OK'd by councilors. After a few proclamations were read—everything from commendations for local builders to recognition of Yom HaShoah—they got down to it.
— An agreement worth about $1.1 million with Portland's Angelo Planning Group to work on Bend's Urban Growth Boundary was unanimously passed. The group's being contracted to help the city meet its goal of completing its UGB application to the state by 2016.
— Council extended Bend's Affordable Housing Program for five years.
— Bethany Powers Flint was appointed as municipal judge, taking the post Brian Hemphill had occupied. He'd been in the position since 2008.
— Design and engineering for the Southeast Interceptor project, "a gravity fed sewer line that starts at Murphy Road and will eventually connect with the wastewater treatment plant East of the City," was discussed.
