Dusty Rhodes and the River Band Return to Bend July 25

The excellently soulful and rootsy indie rockers return to Bend.

Just as I was planning a quick trip over to Portland in July to see Dusty Rhodes and the River Band, I got word yesterday that the rootsy/soulful Anaheim indie rockers were making a stop here in Bend on July 25 at the Silver Moon.

The last time the sextet was in town was about a year ago at the Bite of Bend when they headlined the main stage on an insanely cold Saturday night. Cold or not, they showed off their big, eclectic sound to an appreciative crowd who went wild when DRRB kicked out a cover of "The Weight."

Front man Dustin Apodaca is reason enough to hit up this show -- his curly hair, 70s-era clothing and constantly gyrating body leading the band's huge sound and providing plenty of reason to join one of the many clap-along moments that arise during their show.

The band's craziness is easily discernible in their new music video for "All One."
