Former Bend Bulletin Reporter James Sinks will not be charged in connection in death of a pedestrian that Sinks allegedly hit in a crosswalk last month.
According to the Salem Statesman Journal, Sinks, who now serves as the communications director for Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler, was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal and failure to yield to a pedestrian in the July 16 collision that killed a 22-year-old Vancouver man.
According to the paper Sinks cooperated with investigators and was found not to be under the influence of intoxicants, nor speeding when the accident occurred at the intersection of Mission and Hawthorne streets in Salem when Sink went through a red light. The pedestrian Conner Jordan died at the scene.
