Portland's indie music scene can often be an overwhelming swarm of undiscovered bands with ironic names. It can be hard to tell which bands are worth listening to and which ones will dissolve into the flooded basements of SE before their time.
Luckily for us, Banana Stand Media—please, let that be an "Arrested Development" reference—an independent record label and recording studio in Southeast Portland, makes compilation albums.
Like the best kind of mix-tape, Live from the Banana Stand Vol. 2 puts together live tracks from Portland acts that have recorded at the studio. Recognizable names like Radiation City, And And And and Old Age appear alongside less known but equally awesome acts like Fanno Creek, Animal Eyes and The Heligoats.
Listen to Live from the Banana Stand Vol. 2 Your friends will probably call you a hipster for knowing about these bands, but they will listen to the album on repeat after you suggest it. We're hoping some of these acts make their way south for tour soon!
If you've got room to travel this week, Banana Stand will host nine shows (all but one of which will be free) to promote it newest compilation in Portland in conjunction with MusicfestNW.
