Today Was the Biggest "I Like Pie" Run Ever

Eager to get on with it. Pie awaits!

A record-breaking number of pie/fitness enthusiasts registered for today's "I Like Pie" fun run and walk staged in downtown Bend.
According to FootZone owner Teague Hatfield, event sponsor, nearly 1,100 participants were in attendance for the annual Thanksgiving Day waddle, which included a 2k, 5k, 10k and 10-mile option.

That's great news for three reasons.

A huge food haul for NeighborImpact Every participant was asked to bring five pounds of food, along with a $5 donation, all of which is then donated to NeighborImpact, a local non profit. Last year, with around 800 participants, "I Like Pie" pulled in 2,500 pounds of food. With 300 more people this year, NeighborImpact's take should be even bigger than last year.

More Pie The wide array of pies was impressive. More people meant more pies. The types of pie ran the spectrum, from classic pumpkin pie, to pecan pie, to cream pie. I even saw some muffins in there. It'll be interesting to see which pies the judges choose as winners. Personal favorite was bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Gracious...

An active population More people than ever before showed up to get some exercise before stuffing themselves silly, on a day known for overindulging. Nice work Bend.

And Happy Thanksgiving y'all, from all of us at the Source.
