Video and recap from G. Love and Special Sauce Thursday night

The Domino Room was as packed as I've ever seen it last night for the much-anticipated G. Love and Special Sauce show.

Even when local opener Eric Tollefson and his band were playing their downright impressive (and surprisingly rocking) set to kick off the night, the house was getting full. By the time G. Love sauntered onto the stage (with his cute hat and harmonica, of course), it was tough to even move through the joint.

But I suppose this is a good thing - it's great to see a sold-out show in Bend, because it seems there haven't been many as of late. And hey, isn't there something communal about being elbow to elbow, hip to hip with your fellow live music fans? The folks who couldn't get into the show were probably less stoked, and that punchy University of Oregon loss (ouch) wasn't helping the mood in the neighboring M&J, where many marooned fans settled after seeing the "sold out" sign.

In the end, while the cramped confines were somewhat of a pain, it was pretty damn cool to see G. Love and Special Sauce in a club setting like that. It will be different tonight up at the Gorge Amphitheater where he's opening for Dave Matthews Band.

Here's some video from the show. I'll update this post with some Eric Tollefson footage once I have it ready (silly YouTube). Oh yeah, Tollefson is playing tonight down at Boston's.
