"Nights: Journey of Dreams" is a Nintendo Wii exclusive that makes use of the Wii's motion-sensing controller. The story is a lot like the original "Nights" game and takes place in the dream world of Nightopiam, a land under a threat from the nightmare beings of Nightmaren. The game is presented through the dreams of the game's two protagonists, Helen Cartwright and William Taylor. The player becomes Nights, a jester-like character with a child's personality that can morph genders depending on the player's interpretation.
As in the first "Nights" game, the play is simple - the idea being to glide and loop through different worlds while blasting rings and gathering orbs. With different power-ups, Nights can transform into a dragon, dolphin and even a rocket to get to hard-to-reach areas in the game. With the multi-player mode, you have the options to play two players, two players online, or play against other online gamers.
The Wii controls work great for the most part, but are hard to use in some areas where a normal controller would have been more appropriate. The graphics and sound are faithful to the original and are perfect for this type of game.
A really cool feature is that the game works with the Wii weather channel. So if it's snowing outside, it will be snowing inside the game - way cool! What makes this game different from other games, aside from great replay value, is that the story emphasizes the importance of family. With so many games about shooting and killing, simple values often get lost. "Nights: Journey of Dreams" has found them.
