Yep that's right, 27—all in Central Oregon, with Bend playing host to 18 beer-making and beer-pouring facilities. Consider your pint filled.
When did this all happen? The fun began in 1988 with Fish Brewing, AKA Deschutes Brewery. But others were slow to join—by 2005 there were still only five breweries in Central Oregon. In 2010, however, that number had nearly doubled and three more breweries opened in 2011 alone. Since then, the Central Oregon pint glass has runneth over. Let there be beer!

German towns introduce standardized barrel sizes to trade.

Heinrich Knaust writes first extensive beer book guide, describing about 150 different beers, calling the "noble Hamburg beer the queen of all other wheat beers."

Fraunces Tavern opens in Manhattan, becomes a popular gathering place for the Sons of Liberty and merchant meetings for the post-1763 tax protests.

Recognizing that his largely German work force was drinking beer with their lunches, Portland developer Simon Benson installs 20 "water bubblers" to give them a sober alternative.
1919
Volstead Act bans the production and consumption of beer, wine, liquor.
1956
Cascade hops are first planted in Corvallis but not released to brewers until 1972, when they revolutionize the taste and aroma of craft beer.
1974
McMenamin brothers open Produce Row Cafe in Portland, the first post-Prohibition brewpub in Oregon. (Currently, McMenamins has 65 brewpubs, hotels and theaters.)
