Walking into the brick-walled Dogwood Cocktail Cabin you get the feeling you've traveled back in time to a speakeasy. The upper floor has quaint slab wood tables surrounded by pillowed couches and comfy chairs—the perfect place to sip on cocktails and share food.
The "Cabin Fever," or happy hour menu, has 25 percent off select drinks and food. I ordered the Rye An' Gosling: rye whiskey, Angostura bitters, mint lime and Gosling ginger beer over the rocks, a light and refreshing whiskey drink, a nice change from often-heavy whisky cocktails.
The food menu ranges from Dirty Popcorn—duck fat, bacon, pecorino cheese and sea salt—to skillet-steamed mussels. My group ordered the cheese and charcuterie plate. Even though it's not on the happy hour menu, it's totally worth it. Let me put it this way: the paté is so good, it's converted non-paté eaters every time I've ordered it. Popcorn may seem like a silly thing to order when you're having happy hour drinks, but if you like decadent flavors and delicious duck fat mopped up with popcorn, I highly recommend it.
