Earlier this year, the young residents of the Living Options for Teens learned the program they rely on to right their lives may be losing federal funding.
It was a blow.
To the dozens of young people who are sheltered there every year, The LOFT (A program through J Bar J Youth Services)is often the only thing standing between them and the cold nighttime streets of Central Oregon.
Through its shelter on Century Drive, The LOFT also provides the link from a traumatic life to a stable environment.
Young people obey curfews, submit to drug testing, volunteer in the community and must either seek employment or attend school. It's the ticket these troubled kids need to a productive life as an adult. And it works time and time again.
But the organization needs your support to keep doing its good work. And all you have to do shop!
The next few pages are filled with items donated to our annual charity auction by generous local businesses. You'll find great gift ideas, like jewelry and gift certificates, plus the regular items you need for everyday life, like dog food and water bottles.
