They were formed during 1998 by guitarist and composer Oleg Fomchenkov.Messer is derived from the German word for "knife" and Chups comes from Chupa Chups lollipops.Svetlana "Zombierella" Nagaeva joined Messer Chups during 2005.Messer Chups combines surf rock and traditional Russian music along with using samples from historical recordings, lounge music, plus vintage film soundtracks.Link Wray and The Ventures are cited as major influences. If interested, I do have my own recorded live footage from several of their shows in my archives.
