What an excellent portrayal of one of the - if not THE - greatest economic and sustainable growth opportunities to come to Bend in a long time. Transformation, innovation and dynamic community growth requires a bit of stretching and thinking outside the box. Yes, no one said that would be easy. Thanks Source, Bend will indeed rise to the occasion to help make the OSU-Cascades campus a great community investment... Glass Slippers to ya!

Hey Spencer- I do understand the political "imbalance" regarding the Mayor, but he is a well respected leader as are other's in the sometimes-minority position on the council. Capell's statement is basically the same thing as Clinton's: the city is not interested in buying a dam, rather they would entertain the idea of receiving it as a "gift". Rebuilding the dam would be a huge expense, and until it is rebuilt is a huge liability. Exciting opportunities lie ahead!

Check that Spencer... The city isn't looking to "buy the dam", per Jim Clinton's statement

    Re: “Blowing the Dam
    Yak-
Just reading over some of the Mirror Pond comments from past articles and I see your comment (albeit nearly a year later!) - and it's well taken. I assure you we all know (most of us anyway...!) that Wickiup is managed not by BLM, but BOR (Bureau of Reclamation). The dam was first proposed and built in 1949 as part of the BOR's reigning in on the West's water resources for irrigation purposes. I am thinking this is a typo and James' either heard this as "BLM" rather than "BOR", or I just made an unintentional mistake and said BLM when I certainly meant BOR... By the way, the name is "McLandress", not MrLandress. Thanks for your comment. I doubt anyone else caught the typo.- MM
