At some point last night, Mt. Bachelor received its 500th inch of snowfall for the season. That doesn’t mean there is 500 inches of snow on the ground, that’s just how much has fallen since the beginning of November. Got it?

Still, that’s a hell of a lot of snow and an indicator that we might be close to hitting the all-time high in recorded seasonal snowfall, which according to Mt. B’s marketing and communications director, Andy Goggins, is 574 inches, set in the winter of 1998-1999.

This graph spells it out a lot better than my amateur meteorological ramblings.
