I wish you would take the subject of Ellie Mae in the correct context. I am a birder and a lover of animals but the “scene” at the Museum is 1880. They had cats on their land to keep the rodents within limit. They were “barn cats,” not feral. The scene at the cabin has been overrun by Golden Mantles and mice, plus assorted chipmunks. In an effort to keep it relatively clean, we have Ellie Mae just as they did in the 1800s. Living History tries to be as authentic as possible.
