We need a conservative Senator to slow Obama down from turning this country into a Communist country with his ideas of taking taxes from the rich and given to the non-taxpaying poor? This will send more businesses over seas.
Ronald Wagner
This article appears in Apr 2-8, 2009.

Mr Wagner, where have you been for the last 8 years? What you are implicitely suggesting is a return to Bush/Reaganism – teh very misguided stupidity that created the mess we’re in now.
One does not throw gasoline on a fire to put it out.
R. Wagner is a poster child of how our education system has failed all of us. Or, as has famously been said, “stupid is as stupid does” unless Wagner is suffering from early onset of memory loss. If that’s the case then I can only feel sorry for him.
Better Red than dead. But, seriously, all this talk about Obama being a socialist is absurd. Y’all need to read up on what socialism is, folks. It ain’t bailing out capitalism, that’s for sure. That said, as Bernie Sanders (who IS a socialist!) noted, We can actually learn a few things from social democracies like Sweden. Right on. That’s just one of the many developed nations that could serve as a model for some postive change here in the U.S. We’ve certainly seen enough of the unfettered free market to know that IT isn’t the answer. Regulate Now!
I’m pretty darn poor. I pay my fair share of taxes. It’s the rich corporations and individuals who DON”T pay their fair share with all the tax breaks and loopholes. Let’s not forget all the billions spent on the war in Iraq that wasn’t even included in the Bush budget that has put us in the worst deficit ever. Oh yeah..McCain LOST. Get over it. I guess 100 more years in Iraq wasn’t the best campaign strategy. How about real ideas, real solutions instead of juveniles name-calling from sore losers. At least Obama is looking for solutions and trying to get this country back on it’s feet. And guess what, stimulating the economy does in fact need money. It is going to cost…it doesn’t happen magically. And shame on those republican governors who are refusing to pass stimulus money on to their citizens just to make a political point. Money that goes to anybody goes back into the economy. Just because it’s not going into the programs they want, doesn’t mean it’s not going to help people and get cash flowing. Pure childishness and political grandstanding by governors like Jindal and Palin. All those who say this stimulus from the Obama administration is going to put is in debt forever, strangely said nothing when spend billions on the Iraq war…I guess it’s okay to bankrupt the country if you’re giving the money to your buddies at Halliburton and KBR.
COMMIES! COMMIES! COMMIES!
Let’s take Sweden…. better education than US, no University tuition fees, higher standard universal healthcare than US, higher life expectancy, shorter work-week, longer vacation, higher workplace health and safety standards, lower chronic illness, obesity and diabetes incidence….. can someone tell me what exactly is wrong with the way Sweden is run?
Please note the date of the posting.
Wow…The paranoid appear again. I would like to see our contry become a “RED” country. Why? Ok we have the big three auto makers going belly up along with a lot of other companies that promised health bennies to their employees and they are honoring it. Fact is American businesses spend up to 20% of their total payroll expenses to “Benefits” which we who earn the money are essentially paying as this is how much less we are making compared the the “REDS” north of us in Canada. Compare a job in Canada and here with the same company, same position and they make on average 20% more than we do and this is after calculating the currency difference. Why? Cause nationalized medicine is about a cost of 1-2% in taxes instead of the current health insurance companies taking close to 20% of our hard earned cash and we are sold a bill of goods that it is a “benefit” as in we are being given something from free? BS. It is not free. What it really is, is a way for corporations to help us co-sign this BS and allow other corporations the ability to make huge profits off of our fear of being left without insurance, Then on top of it they play “coding games” manipulate the meaning of deductibles making us pay out of pocket, adding insult to injury again robbing us for every last penny they can squeeze out of us for what should be a birth right like in Sweden, Costa Rica, Cuba, Germany, England and the other CIVILIZED countries who are poorer than we are. So if it costs 1-2% in Canada to make available health care at NO COST to its citizens, and we are paying 20% then where is the other 18% ending up folks? Well profits to the health companies, high salaries to the execs and share holders dividends. If the big three auto makers had implemented nationalized medicine 30 years ago, then they would not now be bailed out by our tax dollars. We are paying it in one way or another. Lets take the health insurance companies out of the equation.
Republican slimy politicians advocate for health insurance companies to make huge profits off of all of us and preach skewed myths about the taxes in the European countries, but in reality the effective tax base after write offs in Europe end up being lower than what we are paying here. Go do the research and find it out for yourself.
So the original writer. The last 8 years of Bush was the worst socialism in history and the social welfare was going to anyone with INC, CORP or GOV in its name. Bush signed EVERY bill put in front of him without reading a single one of them to make up for favors granted him from the campaigns, both of which reeked of corruption and voter fraud. Allowing 18 Billion dollars paid out in corporate bonuses in the worst year in American business, our tax dollars. Get off the Rush Limpnob show and stop listening to Sean Insanity and Bill O’Lielly who are feeding you their lies, conjecture and bullshit.
If all of the corporations in America voted in nationalized health care, then they would see record profits, profits like they have never seen before ever and more money could be pumped into R&D, bonuses for the people that do the labor and promote balance and health in the work place. We currently have one of the worst health records in the world, Obesity, Heart Disease, Cancer, Common illnesses, stress levels thru the roof and people dying too early to enjoy living out their golden years due to living in fear, being robbed by a system promoted by greedy corporations corrupting our government.
the fourth branch of government taken out of school books in the early 1900’s to socially engineer young minds took out ” We the people” as in taking away the rights of the people of this great nation to allow government and industrialists to take control of our nation and lead us to believe that we needed to believe in our government and in big business. Mr. Wagner, you are a dying breed and my generation is not going to allow the same antiquated mistakes to happen again. You are perhaps one of the people that lost all of your retirement in the market as of recently as you wanted to cash out and live off of the sweat of this generations brow. Sorry dude. We are and do not really care…..We are learning what you should have learned years ago, Look out for society as a whole and society will take care of you.
nationalize medicine, put the health insurance companies out of business. Grass roots movement is to call your provider and cancell your policies, encourage everyone you know to do the same and then we the people take back the control. As long as we are lead around like sheep and are living in fear, they own us and our dollars.
Oh. My. Dawg! A Rajneeshie!
No? A salmon? Ryder? Rosy ass?
Copulating buffoon.
Ronnie Wags is correct, Obama-mania is all about turning Red and all Commie-like.
Admitting that Obamanomics is socialism (government owned enterprise vs private enterprise) as the Prez proved when he, Himself, chopped off the head of GM, now called Government Motors, is only admitting the obvious. The President is going to work hard to install socialism at all levels, and it will cost our children tens of TRILLIONS. Obama’s spending will make W look like a fiscal conservative, which is very hard to do since the W was a spender more foolish than a drunkin sailor on a binge spree.
“It ain’t bailing out capitalism, that’s for sure.”
Right! It’s replacing capitalism that makes it socialism.
“Let’s take Sweden…. better education than US, no University tuition fees, higher standard universal healthcare than US, higher life expectancy, shorter work-week, longer vacation, higher workplace health and safety standards, lower chronic illness, obesity and diabetes incidence….. can someone tell me what exactly is wrong with the way Sweden is run?”
Yet you still live in the U.S. Eh, Shortall?
“Admitting that Obamanomics is socialism (government owned enterprise vs private enterprise) as the Prez proved when he, Himself, chopped off the head of GM, now called Government Motors, is only admitting the obvious.”
Yeah. Nice move that was. Instead of attacking the root of the problem, the unions, the great messiah unilaterally and inexplicably decided to involve himself in corporate affairs, without even consulting the millions of GM shareholders who hold the power of the proxy in this matter.
I’m sure if his holiness can find a way to keep the auto makers afloat by ripping off the tax payer, he’ll reap a great reward of UAW campaign contributions which will help ensure his second coming in 2012.
thank you Captain Reality, you have restored my faith in America
All the Canadians we talk to dislike their medical program. It is only ok if you never get sick or have major problems.
Obama is a Marxist. He believes in the redistribution of wealth and central government control of enterprise. This fact is clearly evident in the goals he has set for himself and the bills that have been submitted to his Marxist controlled congress and in his endless Marxist rhetoric spewed around the globe. If you are a fellow Marxist, as many on this thread are, you love Obama because he is destroying the country according to your own personal anti-American belief system. You hate personal freedom. You hate free enterprise. You believe that government should make all of your decisions for you. You do not believe in personal responsibility. You believe in Central Control. You believe that no one has the right to be more successful than you. And if they are, take it away from them and give it to you and those like you. You believe that government should be an enormus nipple and that you should get to set on your lame ass and suck. You believe that others should toil on your behalf while you reap the benefits. You are Marxist scum.
What comes as a surprise is that many of the Marxists found here, don’t seem to have a clue that their political belief system is in fact Marxist.
Clue one: What Obama is doing with his expansion of government, that you’re all so hot for, is not called Capitalism. Clue two: Socialized Medicine is socialized medicine. The operative word here is ‘social’ as in Socialism.
Marxism and Socialism have sex on a regular basis.
They share the apartment and the bed with Communism. The Government pays the rent in any case.
You Marxists that voted for Obama are getting what you asked for. It’s unfortunate that in your process of ignorance, shortsightedness and stupidity, you’re seriously fucking up the country for the 50 million rest of us that could see this shit coming a year ago.
Really–
Too bad the Republican prescience didn’t extend to the economic policies that led to this mess, the piss poor planning that leaves us bogged down in the Middle East and Asia wars, the out of control spending of the last administration that created a budget deficit they refuse to acknowledge and eliminated the surplus of the prior administration, the intel that should have tipped them off to the 9/11 attacks, environmental policies that are exacerbating the global climate change we are experiencing, the non-existent industrial policies and planning that lead us to roller coaster energy supplies and demand, or… Wait, have I made a point yet?
I’m not saying that the Democrats are the answer–but they sure the hell can’t do worse than the bunch that wielded power for eight years and guided the ship onto the rocks. Their plan that they have been touting so strongly–more of the same naturally.
The Republicans are a gutless bunch right now. They have the luxury of knowing that they can vote against any plan on contrived grounds and yet it will still pass and funds will still go to their districts and states. The pander to their base constituency–appear to be in touch with concerns they don’t really have to deal with. They have pensions, health care, jobs, and big contributors who will make sure they are back in there next time, too. If the so-called stimulus plan ran a risk of defeat, how many of these elected officials would have the balls to really vote it down and do nothing? Better to posture and pontificate from the safe haven of having someone else do their job for them! Their plan–start all over, cancel the plan and go with tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations because that is what we know and that is what we have always advocated. Don’t get specific. Stay general. Stay outraged. Maintain that memory deficit because ‘Joe the Plumber’ is always willing to follow the bleat of ‘lower taxes’ and ‘free markets’ because he was told that success would ultimately trickle down. How’s that working out for us, anyway?
First the Repubs created a $700 billion bailout with no oversight and no guidelines. When half of it was gone and no one knew what had happened, the Repubs said there should be some accountability. The new administration has established some standards and guidelines. One common sense rule is that if someone doesn’t know what they are doing, why should you enable them to continue? GM head gone? Good! WTF was he doing right? Do the Repubs want to defend him?! Oh, labor is the problem? Who agreed to those onerous contracts, anyway? Ooops, fired him!!! Heads of the banks need to go–couldn’t agree more. Who do you want to see go first? Come on, name them! Dodd corrupt. What the hell is the surprise there? All of the politicians who have been in office for more that two terms should be out of there. They watched and enabled this crisis.
But it’s not going to happen. They will be voted back in because of their party label and incumbent status. Voters will throw around labels that are convenient but wrong. Constituencies will vote on the issue of the day–the flavor of the moment. Thinking men and women will not have a chance. Plans that call for patience and sacrifice will be ignored. Long range planning will be sacrificed once again for short term gain. We will play politics with our lives, the lives of our children, and the lives of our grand children based on the uncaring mewling of the pundit and political herd that is more interested in scoring points than solving problems.
I don’t believe in economic equality–I understand that some people are more talented than others and deserve the rewards that accompany those talents. But if you believe that the current political and economic ruling class is a study in success, spell it out, because I just don’t see it anymore. They led us into this and they have to bear some of the burden. Replacing reason and thought with labels isn’t going to work any longer.
yes! fear-mongering will solve all our problems! label Obama as a communist, and blame the unions! Never for once examine what the Bush administration did to lead us down this path. Well, guess what? if Obama is the problem….you’re the problem and the failure because you weren’t able to get your guy elected. You guys are nothing but sore losers. Grow up and talk about solutions rather than name calling. that’s getting really old.
