Is it time for the City of Bend to file bankruptcy and outsource all services to private contractors?

The idea occurred to me as I read about the $34 million that the City will have to find to comply with the DOJ settlement demanding thousands of curb ramps be brought up to ADA (American’s with Disabilities Act) standards. I am all for access, but something got lost in the process.

I looked around my neighborhood and didn’t find it.

I checked downtown, calling and calling…the way you’d try to find your lost dog: still no answer.

It seems that no one has been able to include it in all the discussion about these ramps. So I’m turning to the readers of the Source and I’m asking: “Common Sense…WHERE ARE YOU?”

  1. Seems to me the COB is following the same high management standards that are the bellwether for the automobile industry, banking industry, construction industry, real estate industry, high tech industry…

‘Common sense’ is a very uncommon commodity and there is very little of it in either the public or private sector.
