One of the most colorful – like, actually colorful – bicycles you’ll see during Cross Culture, or perhaps all weekend, is the creation by Bombing Yarn Over Bend, a local “knit graffiti” group.

The bike, known as the Lantern Rouge, was created for the 2009 edition of the Cyclocross Nationals and is now being auctioned off during a silent auction at the Oxford Hotel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday night. The group says the bike is “mostly rideable” and all proceeds from the auction will go to Bend’s Community Bike Shed. If you snag this creation, your bike won’t be the fastest out there, but it will certainly be the coziest.
