Around The Bend Farms (ATBF), a local nonprofit dedicated to improving food security and community health, announces a major fundraising event at the popular Bend restaurant, Spork, on Sunday, November 16th, at 4:00 PM.
This special event aims to raise vital funds for two of ATBF’s key initiatives: The Around The Bend Gardensprogram and the impactful Farm-to-Warm Springs project.
Supporting the Farm-to-Warm Springs Project
The Farm-to-Warm Springs initiative is a critical effort focused on delivering fresh, nutritious produce to the Warm Springs community, a Native American Reservation in Jefferson County, Central Oregon. This program directly addresses food insecurity and the challenges of diet-related disease, with the goal of improving health outcomes for residents.
ATBF places a high priority on authentic community engagement. The organization holds strategic gatherings with Warm Springs leaders to ensure their efforts are culturally relevant and maximize impact on food accessibility and overall community health. In collaboration with the Warm Springs Health and Human Services branch, Around The Bend Farms just completed its second year of providing fresh produce to the community through the VeggieRx program, and just this year supplied farm produce for the Fresh Harvest Kits. Both food access programs provide fresh produce for those grappling with food insecurity and diet-related disease, aiming to improve health outcomes.
Earlier in 2025, ATBF began to participate in planning meetings with the Warm Springs Community Action Team (WSCAT) to establish a commercial-grade educational greenhouse within the Warm Springs community. Furthermore, ATBF is collaborating with Louisa Fuentes, Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Early Childhood Education (ECE) Food Service Manager and Food Program Coordinator, to establish an ECE garden project that will create an interactive learning environment, and provide meaningful garden and nutrition engagement for kids and their families.
Growing the Around The Bend Gardens Program
The fundraiser will also support the expansion and implementation of Around The Bend Gardens in Bend, OR. This innovative raised-bed installation and management program provides community members with water-efficient, custom raised beds. The program empowers people to grow fresh food for themselves, for others, and encourages them to donate some or all of their produce to support food pantries / kitchens such as The Giving Plate and Family Kitchen in Bend.
“Every dollar raised at this event directly fuels our mission to ensure everyone has access to fresh, healthy food,” says Kelly Moffatt, Executive Director. “Whether it’s supporting the nutritional needs of children in Warm Springs or empowering a family in Bend to grow their own food, this fundraiser is about building healthier, more resilient communities across Central Oregon.”
