Three months after opening, students from the School of Rock Bend will hold their first public concert.

“We are very excited for our first performance, as you can imagine,” Jeff Reading told the Source. He and his wife Niki opened the school, which is part of a national franchise. The theme for the first concert is “A ’90s Experience.”

“The students who will be performing have been working together since we opened in early October on 14 songs from the 90s, including Zombie, Creep, Smells Like Teen Spirit, All the Small Things, What’s Up, Say It Ain’t So, Losing My Religion, and more,” Reading says.

The youth performers range in age between eight and 17, while adult performers range in age from the 30s to 60s.

The School of Rock Bend, located near Blockbuster at NE Third and Revere, offers music lessons for all ages and skill levels. Programs include singing, songwriting and various instruments such as guitar, drums, keyboard and bass. Students also learn how to play together in a band.

The first concert will rock the Domino Room on Jan. 25.
